How to make the ‘easiest’ cranberry sauce for Christmas with this 15-minute recipe

No Christmas dinner is complete without sweet and tart cranberry sauce to go with your turkey, and there is a very simple way to make this festive condiment from scratch.

Making a full Christmas meal can be a difficult task, and many people try to save cooking time by buying their cranberry sauce from the supermarket.

However, you can easily make cranberry sauce from home in less than 10 minutes, which not only can be prepared before Christmas Day but will taste much better than the store-bought version.

Erin Clarke, a best-selling cookbook author, has shared her zesty cranberry sauce recipe. She said: “You are making a mistake if you are only serving cranberry sauce from a can. It is the easiest side dish to make from scratch.”

Instructions

Take a medium-sized saucepan and place it on the stove over medium heat.

Add in the cranberries, orange juice, and grated orange zest to the pan and let it cook for a few minutes.

Pour in some honey and add in a pinch of cinnamon, pinch of cloves, and a pinch of salt. The cloves in the recipe will give your sauce a little bit of warmth while the salt is used to help balance out the flavours and make sure it is not too sweet.

Cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries break down. Make sure to keep stirring the sauce for it to thicken.

The homemade Christmas cranberry sauce is now ready to serve alongside your holiday meal.

If you have any leftovers, store the cranberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it can be left for one week. It can also be frozen in a freezer for up to six months.
