Quickest tip to make flavourful baked potato without oven shared by chef

Potatoes are a versatile vegetable that can go with most meals. Even better, they don’t have to take too much effort to whip up.

The quickest way to make a baked potato doesn’t need to involve your oven. Culinary Scientist Chef Jessica Gavin said it’s a great technique to use especially if you’re just making one or two potatoes and you don’t have a lot of time.

How to make baked potato easily using a microwave

Using a fork, prick through the potato skin about 8 times on one side. This will prevent it from exploding in the microwave.

Brush the surface of the potato skin with a little bit of olive oil. This is going to prevent the potato from drying out and give it a little more flavour.

Season with some salt. “It’s important to cook one potato at a time for even cooking,” the chef advised.

One person expressed that their potato kept exploding before they learned about Jessica’s hack about poking it before microwaving it, and they were entirely grateful for it.

Someone else said: “Thank you your video was really helpful.”

And another person, ready to try out the efficient hack for themselves, said: “I’m gonna try this tomorrow thx.”
