Two-ingredient bagels are ‘delicious and easy to make’ – recipe

Bagels, like most white bread, are typically high in carbohydrates and calories, so they’re not the best option for those trying to lose weight.

But by cutting out all of the unnecessary additives, salt, and sugars found in shop-bought versions, they’re a much healthier option.

With this Weight Watchers-friendly recipe by Vicky, the founder and content creator at Mess For Less, there’s no need to compromise on taste or flavour when making bagels at home.

Sharing her simple formula on her blog, she said: “If you are on a weight loss program, you probably thought bagels were off-limits and normally you’d be right.

“But these two-ingredient Weight Watchers Bagels are a game changer. This is one of my most popular recipes of all time because they are delicious and easy to make.”

Vicky explained: “The secret to these two ingredient Weight Watchers Bagels is fat-free Greek yoghurt. Fat-free Greek yoghurt is zero points on the Weight Watchers Freestyle plan and is one of the main ingredients in these bagels.

“The crazy thing is that you cannot taste the yoghurt at all in these bagels.”

To make the delicious bakes, combine the measured yoghurt and flour in a large mixing bowl and work together with your hands until a dough starts to form.

The consistency should be quite crumbly early on but it will get thicker and smoother as you go. Turn it onto a lightly floured surface and brush your palms with some flour.

Knead the mixture until it is smooth and springy, then divide the large dough ball into four equal portions. Weighing them may help to get the measurements precise.

Roll out the dough balls to form a rope-like shape, then pinch the ends together to make a circle. Brush the bagels with an egg wash from one whisked egg, then top with bagel seasoning or seeds.

Bake at 175C for 23 minutes, then a further two minutes at a higher temperature of 260C to brown the tops.
